I first came across Úna Burke last year in Paris. ‘Arresting’ doesn’t begin to describe her work – scary, sexy, evocative S&M armor is more like it.
Since debuting her line in 2010, the Ireland-born, London-based designer has quickly become a darling of the fashion world. Úna has been featured in Italian Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and Le Figaro, and has designed pieces for Lady Gaga, Daphne Guinness, Christina Aguilera, and Rihanna. Her most recent celebrity commission was for Madonna’s Nightlife Exchange Project. Úna was nominated as Breakthrough Designer for WGSN’s Global Fashion Awards and won Irish Designer of the Year in 2011.
